RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. — You can stay in a Hilton hotel room anywhere in the world, but your reservation will be in RTP.

Hilton Worldwide and IBM announced Tuesday that Big Blue is taking on Hilton’s technology platforms for all 10 of its hotel brands, including including data center management and monitoring, global email services, web hosting and the central guest reservation system.

It will all reside at IBM’s Smarter Data Center in RTP. The companies noted that the data center is equipped to support cloud computing workloads and will enable Hilton Worldwide to use only the resources necessary to support its IT needs during high- and low-volume traffic periods.

The agreement with IBM will be launched immediately, the companies said in their joint statement, but Hilton Worldwide’s overall technology transition process, which it calls the Hilton Worldwide Innovation Collaborative, is expected to occur in phases over the next several months.

Hilton operates more than 3,500 hotels in 81 countries. Its brands include Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts, Conrad Hotels & Resorts, Hilton, Doubletree, Embassy Suites Hotels, Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Hotels, Homewood Suites by Hilton, Home2 Suites by Hilton and Hilton Grand Vacations.
