RALEIGH, N.C. – All newspapers in the chain will deploy a new online marketing technology in an attempt to drive more Web advertising, the company said Tuesday.

McClatchy owns The News & Observer in Raleigh as well as The Charlotte Observer.

The nation’s third largest newspaper chain, which like virtually all other newspaper owners, is fighting declining circulation, advertising and revenue. Its new effort is in partnership with California-based

The Charlotte paper is among the first to deploy WebVisible. The software also has been tested in several other markets.

McClatchy owns 30 papers in 29 markets.

According to WebVisible, its technology enables advertising to be “visible” across multiple platforms, ranging fro mobile to e-mail.

WebVisibile launched in 2001 and has more than 100,000 small business customers in 14 countries.
