WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – A team from Purdue University and Indiana University took home the top prize, in the annual at Wake Forest University over the weekend.
The GlucaGo team won the Traditional Business Plan title against more than 30 other groups from around the country in the two-day event that includes two-minute pitches made to judges in an actual elevator.
GlucaGo received $10,000 plus also will receive a review for potential investment by the Piedmont Angel Network.
PCCA Technologies from Carnegie Mellon University took second. EntoGenetics from Duke finished third.
GlucaGo is a medical device startup focused on a next-generation injection system.
EntoGenetics, representing Duke’s Fuqua School of Business, is working on means to replicate spider silk for potential use in products such as body armor.
In the Social Entrepreneurship Competition, UNC-Chapel Hill’s AutismSphere won first place and $5,000.
AutismSphere has developed an online mobile tool designed to help children with Autism improve organizational and socialization skills.
Meanwhile, Wake Forest’s own uInnovate won the fan favorite voting.
