RALEIGH, N.C. – ABB and Sensus, two Triangle firms focused on power, are teaming up to offer solutions targeting development of so-called smart grids.

Smart grids are designed to improve energy management.

Financial terms of the agreement weren’t disclosed.

The companies have worked together in the past but describe the new agreement as “a new level” of integration and support.

Sensus currently has integrated ABB automation devices into two products.

The company’s combined applications will deliver fault detection, isolation, restoration, voltage optimization, and extension of network management to such devices as advanced sensors.

Sensus, which is based in Raleigh, has water, gas and electric utility customers around the world.

ABBA, which is based in Cary, operates in some 100 countries.
