RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Bankruptcy courts in the U.S. and Canada have rejected a bid by a from assets being liquidated by telecom gear maker
The Globe and Mail in Toronto reported over the weekend that both courts said no to the British Pensions Regulator. The Ottawa Citizen reported that the U.S. court rejected the claim on Friday.
Nortel still operates a campus in RTP.
The U.S. judge said the British claim was “deemed void and of no effect,”
a Nortel lawyer as saying that the Canadian court also turned down the U.K. bid.
Both courts had issued orders protecting Nortel under bankruptcy proceedings in Canadian and U.S. law.
