RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, N.C. – Lee Anne Britt Nance, a veteran economic development executive, is the new senior vice president of the Research Triangle Regional partnership.
Nance replaces Ted Abernathy who has resigned to take over as executive director of the Southern growth Policies Board.
Nance’s appointment is effective Oct. 1.
Since 2003, Nance has served as director of Harnett Economic Development. In her new role at RTRP, she will be responsible for implementing the economic development plan for the 13 counties that make up the Triangle partnership. The Harnett program has acquired and developed three industrial parks with a science and technology campus is under development. She was a financial analyst at Citicorp for five years earlier in her career.
“Lee Anne is a skilled economic development professional with extensive corporate experience who has transformed the competitive landscape for Harnett County during her six years in that position,” said RTRP Chief Executive Officer Charles Hayes. “She is highly respected by her colleagues throughout the region and state. We’re excited to have her energy and expertise now working on behalf of the entire region.”
In her Harnett post, Nance served on the RTRP’s board of directors. She is a graduate of N.C. State with bachelors and masters degrees in economics.
The RTRP includes Chatham, Durham, Franklin, Granville, Harnett, Johnston, Lee, Moore, Orange, Person, Vance, Wake and Warren counties.
