Windstream (NYSE: WIN) is a telecommunications provider based in Little Rock, Ark. It at one time was the local phone operation of Alltel. After spinning off from Alltel, Windstream later purchased CTC Communications in Concord, N.C.

Financial terms were not disclosed. However, Windstream said the subsidiary was expected to produce $75 million in revenue this year. The deal is expected to close this month.

“For nearly 40 years, Walker has been an innovator in customer-oriented supply and services to network operators,” said Virginia Walker, chief executive officer of Walker and Associates. “Our storied market strength is a great platform for leveraging this added scale and customer reach.”

The deal includes the hiring of the salesforce at the Windstream subsidiary as well as athe group’s headquarters facility in Alpharetta, Ga.

Windstream said the deal would allow the company “to focus on our core communications business,” said Chief Operating Officer Brent Whittington.

Walker already operates facilities in Welcome and Winston-Salem.

After the deal is closed, Walker will have more than 2,000 customers, including broadband, wireless, cable and government entities.
