FRANKLINTON, N.C. – Adam Monroe, a veteran executive with biotechnology firm , is taking over as president of the company’s North American region.

Monroe replaces Lars Hansen, who will now run Novozyme’s operations in Europe.

Novozymes is a developer of enzyme technology for use in biofuels. It is based in Denmark and has a major operation in Franklinton.

Monroe has worked at the company since 1991, serving most recently as head of global planning as well as supply chain and capacity planning in the Americas.

Over the years he has advanced through the corporate ranks from his start in the process engineering group to establishing Novozyme’s enzymes manufacturing supply line.

A native of Arkansas, Monroe earned a degree in chemical engineering at the University of Arkansas.
