GREENSBORO, N.C. – Former U.S. nuclear submarine command Scott Waddle, author of “The Right Thing,” will be the keynote speaker at the on Wednesday.

Waddle wrote the book after the submarine he captained, the USS Greenville, surfaced and sank a Japanese fishing boat near Hawaii in February 2001. Waddle took full responsibility for the incident and later apologized to families of the victims.

The two-day event at the Grandover resort begins Tuesday with a keynote address by Paul Gudonis, president of First Robotics.

The conference also includes a presentation from Gartner Research Vice president Kathy Harris on Thursday.

Panel discussions will focus on workforce development and education partnerships.
