Former GE Financial executive Alan Hughes is the new chief information officer at
Hughes replaces John Sternbergh, who is retiring June 30. He has worked at BCBSNC for the past seven years.
Hughes, a 20-year veteran in the information technology field, worked most recently at GE Commercial Finance and Deutsche Financial Services. He earned an MBA at New York University and an undergraduate degree in biological sciences at the State University of New York – Old Westbury.
“Alan Hughes brings demonstrated success and a clear understanding of the link between information technology and business success,” said Brad Wilson, chief operating officer at BCBSNC, in a statement. “He has a strong record of helping global organizations make the most of information to meet financial, competitive and regulatory needs.”
