The “help wanted sign” is out at Affiliated Computer Services (NYSE: ACS) in Raleigh.
ACS plans to hire 240 people at its customer care center in order to provide technical support for Apple iPhones.
“We want these people as soon as possible,” said ACS spokesperson Chris Gilligan. “The jobs will pay above minimum wage with benefits. Individuals will have the ability to increase compensation after training and increase it further based on productivity.”
Both customer care personnel and managers are needed.
“These positions reflect growing demand for iPhones and the fact ACS has demonstrated we have the ability to ramp up this many positions quickly and to meet technical demands,” Gilligan said. “This also speaks well for Raleigh.”

ACS is looking to hire some 600 people nationwide. The company has 3,100 employees in North Carolina, including offices in Raleigh and Cary.
