W. Steve Albrecht, chair of the audit committee and a member of the board of directors at Red Hat (NYSE: RHT), is stepping down.

Albrecht, a board member for six years, will leave the board as of June 30. He will serve as a missionary for three years in Japan along with his wife. Albrecht is a member of the Mormon Church.

“I understand and respect Steve’s decision and am happy that he has this opportunity to support his church,” said Matthew Szulik, Red Hat’s chairman. “We have enjoyed the privilege of working with Steve. His contributions to Red Hat’s success cannot be measured, and we wish him well on his mission.”
