Founder Richard Holcomb back at StrikeIron, nears $5.5M in funding

Serial entrepreneur Richard Holcomb is back in the chief executive officer’s chair at StrikeIron{[/a}}, the software firm he helped start.

And he’s leading the firm toward a close on $5.5 million in new venture funding, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

The Aurora Funds and NC IDEA, which are based in the Triangle, and Ascent Venture Partners are leading the new round, Scott Albert of Aurora told the paper.

The company, which was launched in 2006, has already raised more than $9 million in financing.

Holcomb and Bob Brauer founded StrikeIron in 2002. Holcomb stepped down as CEO in 2005. He returned as CEO at the request of investors last fall, according to the newspaper, replacing David Linthicum. Brauer is StrikeIron’s president.
