Visitors to Raleigh-Durham International Airport will soon be greeted by a new digital showcase highlighting the Triangle’s growth, hospitality, culture, Southern cuisine, education and business climate the moment they step off the aircraft.

Over the past few weeks, representatives from Interspace Airport Advertising have been meeting with local businesses to share plans for a new digital advertising program at RDU and have them secure their placement.

Program highlights include 57-inch LCD Screens throughout the concourse and baggage claim areas; a Seamless Multi-Plasma Digital Tower in Terminal 2; LCD Grid Walls in Terminal 1; large format stretched-graphic displays in the baggage claim and concourse areas; and a new digital Visitor & Information Center in each of the baggage claim areas equipped with 57-inch LCDs, touchscreen computers, printout and mobile media capabilities.

Tom Clapham, marketing manager for Duke Medicine, said RDU’s new Terminal 2 is a modern building of intelligent design befitting an international airport.

“Interspace’s new advertising offerings complement the level of innovation in the architecture, and we appreciate the creative potential that they afford,” Clapham added. “Considering that the mission of Duke Medicine is to transform medicine and health locally and globally, advertising in our community’s gateway to the world is a natural means for us to remind visitors of the renowned research and training that happens here. We also expect that the campaign will raise awareness of our commitment to improving community health."

According to Interspace estimates, RDU’s new custom digital community showcase will reach about 10 million travelers each year at the airport.

"We are hoping to see at least one third more increased activity in the hotel’s reservations and revenue," said Tricia Durham, general manager for Days Inn – Raleigh Airport. "I am sure this new technology will make our future customers, and the Triangle, excited about the digital age we are entering, and we look forward to seeing the display that will be developed by Interspace."

Interspace Airport Advertising currently is partnered with more than 200 airports internationally.
