The co-founders of e-mail marketing services firm iContact are in the running for another entrepreneurial award.

Aaron Houghton and Ryan Allis are finalists for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award in the Carolinas. Last week, their firm was named Growth Company of the Year by the Council for Entrepreneurial Development.

Other finalists for the E&Y honor include Matthew Szulik, chairman of Red Hat; TransTech Pharma founder Adnan Mjalli, Richard McNeel of Lord Corporation, Jerry Heneghan of Virtual Heroes, David Jones of Peak 10, and Stephen Wiehe of SciQuest.

Winners in a variety of categories will be announced on Thursday in Charlotte.

“To be honored as a finalist by Ernst & Young is phenomenal,” said Ryan Allis, iContact’s chief executive officer. “We consider this nomination an honor for our whole team, and a reflection of their dedication to being a dynamic and caring entrepreneurial company that has grown to be the product leader in the [small to medium sized business] e- mail marketing space."

iContact celebrates its fifth anniversary this summer. The company, which recently moved to new headquarters in Durham, topped the 25,000 customer mark in May and recently hired its 100th employee.
