The Carolinas Photonics & Optics group will put on its first conference for investors on June 3 at Duke University.
The group is made up of five universities aligned to help grow the photonics and optics industrial sector in North and South Carolina. Members include Duke, N.C. State, UNC-Charlotte, Western Carolina and Clemson. A sixth university is expected to join the group in the near future.
Two companies with photonics-based technology are scheduled to present at the event.
Later-stage companies include Bioptigen, Sensory Analytics and Semprius. Southeast TechInventures, which works to help emerging companies commercialize technology, also will present.
Early-stage companies include: InnerOptic, M Bright, Onoscope, Protochips and Selah technologies.
Seed-stage firms include: Blue Angel Optics, Endls Optics and HueMetrix.
