Sony Ericsson, a joint venture between Sony and Ericsson that has a major research and development facility in the Triangle, is the winner for the second straight year in a customer satisfaction survey by J.D. Power and Associates.

Sony Ericsson won in the U.S. wireless mobile phone evaluation study for the third consecutive year.

Customers were surveyed about physical design, operation, features, handset durability and battery function.

"Achieving the top ranking for performance and quality of our mobile handsets from consumers is an honor and demonstrates our commitment to bring a broad range of world-class handsets that both simplify and enrich the wireless communication experience of our U.S. consumers," said Najmi Jarwala, president of Sony Ericsson North America.

Sony Ericsson sells various models of handsets, including Walkman and Cyber-Shot as well as the new Xperia brand.
