Honda Aircraft, while still building its HondaJet plant in Greensboro, is putting its sales and distribution network in place. Thursday, the company said it would launch sales in Europe.

The HondaJets are so-called “light jets” designed for corporate travel.

Honda Aircraft also has selected five locations for sales and service facilities in the U.S.: Rochester, N.Y.; Tallahassee, Fla.; Aurora, Ill.; Phoenix, Ariz.; and Salt Lake City, Utah.

The company also is setting up sales and service organizations in Canada and Mexico.

“We are excited to initiate sales in Europe, where we have received a steady stream of inquiries from interested customers who will now have the opportunity to reserve delivery of a HondaJet," said Michimasa Fujino, Honda Aircraft president and chief executive officer. "We are committed to providing our customers with both a class-leading product and a sales and service support system that exceed their expectations for private jet ownership and travel."

The first HondaJets are set for delivery in 2010.
