My Local TV News, a service offered by Capitol Broadcasting’s News Over Wireless division, is now available nationwide on the Verizon Wireless network.

News Over Wireless, which is part of Capitol’s New Media Group, works with some 80 TV affiliates across the nation to offer local news, weather and sports on demand. The stations’ affiliations include CBS, ABC, NBC and Fox. The News Over Wireless program now covers 70 percent of the U.S.

News Over Wireless also works with AT&T and Sprint Nextel.

Verizon Wireless and News Over Wireless announced the offering on Tuesday at the CTIA Wireless tradeshow in Las Vegas. Verizon Wireless has made the My Local TV News video channel part of its V CAST Video service.

“Verizon Wireless customers want to stay connected to what’s going on while on the go, and the addition of My Local TV News to V CAST Video helps them stay up to date with local news, sports and more,” said Jennifer Byrne, director of V CAST Video and social media for Verizon, said.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

The News Over Wireless program can be found in the V CAST News category.

“The local news, weather and sports coverage that My Local TV News provides … gives Verizon Wireless customers access to the information they need and use every day, directly from the local stations they know and trust,” said Sam Matheny, general manager of News Over Wireless.

V CAST costs $15 per month or $3 for 24 hours of access.

Verizon Wireless customers with mobile Web 2.0-capable phones can also access My Local TV News as a premium service.
