Strategic Technologies is now known as Consonus Technologies.
The two companies merged a year ago and since then have been run by Mike Shook, who was chief executive officer at Strategic, a provider of managed services and information technology solutions. Consonus is based in Utah.
The combined company’s headquarters is in Cary.
Strategic, founded 20 years ago, was one of the first IT-focused startups in the Triangle. Consonus offers a variety of data-hosting and management services as well as consulting.
“The word ‘consonus’ actually means ‘harmonius; having common sound,’” Shook said in a statement. “Our new name not only reflects the ideal partnership we have found with Consonus, but it’s what we help our customers achieve: harmony in their business and IT environments through improved alignment of both areas’ objectives."
