beRecruited, a Web site for high school athletes hoping to be recruited by universities, has landed Madison Parker Capital as an investor.
The amount of the investment was not disclosed. TechJournal South reported the investment was $1.2 million.
beRecruited, which was founded in 2000 by former Duke University swimmer Ryan Spoon, recently was purchased in October by RVS Ventures and Madison parker Capital.
As part of that deal, Jeff Cravens, a former executive with ESPN.com, was hired as beRecruited’s president.
The Web site already has more than 135,000 registered users, including 125,000 athletes.
The site seeks to capitalize on social networking as a tool to help both athletes and recruiters.
“We are already seeing great efficiencies in combining the increasingly competitive nature of recruiting, with the popular social networking trends for the high school demographic. This business platform offers a tremendous market for growth, as well as many new business opportunities and partnerships," said Brent Brown, managing partner of Madison Parker.
Madison Parker Capital is based in Boston.
RVS Ventures is based in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
