Bradford Waters, a former neurosurgeon and venture capitalist, is the new senior director for clinical and medical services at RTI Health Solutions.

Waters was a partner at Triangle-based Academy Funds who served on the board of several life science firms. he at one time was acting chief executive officer at Kucera Pharmaceutical in Winston-Salem. Waters most recently has worked as a consultant for life science firms with an emphasis on early-stage clinical trials.

"We are very excited to welcome Brad to our clinical research and consulting team," said Allen Mangel, senior vice president of RTI Health Solutions, in a statement. "With his previous positions as a clinician, researcher and business leader, Brad brings a unique and impressive combination of experience to RTI-HS and our clients."

Waters earned his medical degree at Harvard medical School and later was chief resident in neurosurgery at Massachusetts General Hospital. He later taught at the UNC medical school.

"I welcome the opportunity to join such a distinguished team of scientists and consultants," said Walters. "I look forward to contributing to the growth and expansion of RTI-HS’ broad range of clinical research activities, both in the mid- to later-stage areas for which they have become so well known and as well in the earlier stages of pharmaceutical development."

Waters earned an MBA at UNC’s Kenan-Flagler Business School.
