Ian Davis, a researcher at the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has received the top research award from the V Foundation for Cancer Research.
Davis will receive a $100,000 grant covering two years as part of the Martin D. Abeloff Scholar Award.
The V Foundation handed out 14 other research awards, each for $100,000 and covering two years. Since its founding in 1993, the foundation has raised more than $70 million for cancer research.
So far this year, the V Foundation has awarded more than $8 million in research grants. The foundation was launched in 1993 by the late Jim Valvano, men’s basketball coach at North Carolina State and an ESPN commentator.
