Arysta LifeScience Corporation, a Japanese-based firm which moved its U.S. headquarters to Cary two years ago, is being sold.

Olympus Capital Holdings Asia and other investors said Monday they would sell Arysta to Industrial Equity Investments Limited for $2.2 billion.

Arysta touts itself as the world’s largest privately held crop protection and life science company.

The firm moved its U.S. operation to Cary from California. It generated some $1 billion in revenues in 2006.
