Christopher Hansen, currently an executive with AARP, will be the new chief executive officer of the AeA, the electronics trade association said Monday.
Hansen will replace William Archey, who is scheduled to leave the CEO post in February. Hansen will join AeA on Nov. 15.
Hansen is the group executive officer at AARP, managing advocacy initiatives and programs. He also oversees 53 AARP offices and 675 staff personnel.
“While AeA has a strong presence in Washington, the predominance of its resources is located in its 17 local councils as well as two offices overseas,” said AeA Chairman Tim Guertin, who led the search committee. “The experience and success that Chris has had in managing a large field organization will be invaluable in his position at AeA.”
Hansen also worked for 16 years as an executive at Boeing. He received an undergraduate degree at the University of Denver and a master’s in international management from the American Graduate School of International Management.
AeA has 2,500 member companies, which have 1.8 million employees.
