CCP Games, an international interactive game development firm, has opened a new U.S. headquarters in Georgia and plans to hire 100 employees.
CCP also is working with the Georgia Game Developers Association to put on an interactive game expo in Atlanta from October 5-7.
CCP’s CCP North America subsidiary said it would hire more than 100 development and design personnel over the next year. CCP will continue to focus on online games.
The company is best known for the massively multiplayer online game EVE Online. More than 190,000 players in 80 countries subscribe to the game. Of those players, more than 76,000 are in the U.S. The monthly fee is $14.95.
CCP Games will formally open its headquarters in Stone Mountain on October 12.
The first Southern Interactive Entertainment and Gaming Expo, or SIEGE, will take place at the Crowne Plaza Perimiter NW Hotel in Atlanta.
“Computer and video games are a nearly $13 billion a year industry in the United States and a nearly $32 billion industry worldwide, according to a recent study by PricewaterhouseCoopers, and the South represents a significant and growing part of this industry,” said Clinton Lowe, chairman of the GGDA. “We organized SIEGE to highlight the industry’s presence in the South and further propel game development and design in the region.”
CCP was founded in 1997. The privately held firm is based in Iceland and has offices in Atlanta, London and China.
