NASCAR.com on Monday unveiled a Spanish-language equivalent of its NASCAR.com Wed site as part of its efforts to reach out to Hispanic fans.
NASCAR.com en Espanol includes video, news, statistics and other features.
NASCAR’s daily broadband video update, called NASCAR 24/7, will also be offered in Spanish. It will be hosted by Carolina Escobar, an anchor for CNN en Espanol.
“The launch of NASCAR.COM en Español signifies the importance and relevance of diversity not only in racing, but in all online sports media," said Lenny Daniels, Turner Sports senior vice president of production and new media, in a statement. “We are excited to launch the new site to provide pertinent and entertaining NASCAR coverage and an interactive platform to Spanish-speaking race fans throughout the world.”
According to statistics provided by NASCAR, nearly 9 percent of NASCAR fans are Hispanic, up from 8.1 percent in 2001.
