The North Carolina Biotechnology Center has set up a listing wet lab facilities across the state.
The goal of the site is to help startup companies find research space to lease or to buy.
The listing service is free, and information includes site details, contact information, Internet links and photos.
In order for properties to be listed, the space must be available for immediate occupancy, according to the Biotech Center. Office space or “shell space” requiring what the Center calls “significant adaptation or investment” for lab work are not eligible.
Listings are searchable by six regions across the state. These correspond with the Biotech Center’s regional offices, including the west, Charlotte, RTP, east and southeast.
"This is another valuable asset that the Biotechnology Center can uniquely provide," said John Richert, the Biotechnology Center’s vice president, business and technology development. "As the statewide go-to site for bioscience information, we’re frequently asked by start-up companies if we know of any available wet lab space that might meet their specific requirements. This site provides that."
The site is being presented in partnership with the North Carolina Small Business and Technology Development Center.
