CHAPEL HILL – John Buse, an MD and PhD and a professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has assumed the presidency for medicine and science at the American Diabetes Association.
Buse, a longtime researcher and a longtime critic of the GlaxoSmithKline diabetes drug Avandia, will be the association’s primary spokesperson and advocate on scientific and medical matters.
Buse is an endocrinologist at UNC and is chief of the Endocrinology Division of the Department of Medicine at UNC’s School of Medicine.
