F. Ivy Carroll and the late Monroe Wall, researchers at RTI International, recently were inducted into the American Chemical Society Division of Medicinal Chemistry Hall of Fame.

They were cited for overall contributions to medicinal chemistry through research, teaching and service.

Carroll has developed two pharmacotherapies for the treatment of cocaine abuse and relapse prevention. Both are in advanced preclinical development. One of the compounds also may have potential as a treatment for depression, anxiety and other neurological disorders.

He also helped develop a compound that is used as a diagnostic compound for patients with Parkinson’s disease.

Wall was a co-discoverer of two anti-cancer compounds. He died in 2002.
