Global Knowledge, a provider of information technology training, is making global an even more accurate name for the company.

The Cary-based firm said Tuesday it has agreed to acquire Synergy Professional Services, a provider of IT training and consulting. The firm, which focuses on the Middle East and Africa markets, is based in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates.

Both companies are privately held.

Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Synergy will continue to operate under that brand, Global Knowledge said in a statement.

“As Global Knowledge searched for the right vehicle to enter the rapidly growing and strategically important markets of the Middle East and Africa, we quickly focused on Synergy,” said Joseph Cece, Global Knowledge’s chief executive officer. Melad Ghabrial, SPS President and CEO, and his team have built Synergy into the most highly respected and well positioned provider of IT technical and professional skills in the region.”

Global Knowledge and Synergy are certified as Cisco Learning Solutions Partner and Microsoft Gold Certified Partner for Learning Solutions.

Global Knowledge is owned by the investment firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson and Stowe.
