The French Ministry for Education has switched some 2,500 servers to Red Hat ( )Enterprise Linux as part of an effort to embrace open source software solutions.
The servers are divided among 30 local education authorities/
Financial terms of the project were not disclosed.
According to the French ministry, the use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux was part of an effort to decouple operating systems from hardware providers.
