A panel of judges declared “Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures” as the best online game of the show at the Games Convention last week in Leipzig, Germany.
The event is one of the biggest annually in Europe.
Age of Conan is being developed by international game company Funcom, which bases its U.S. operations in Durham. Game company Eidos is working with Funcom to develop a PC version of the game.
Age of Conan is a massively multiplayer online title. Its competition included :Unreal Tournament 3” from Triangle-based Epic Games.
Judges included game industry press members as well as other reporters.
“This is a great honor to everyone working on ‘Age of Conan’,” said Funcom Chief Executive Officer Trond Arne Aas. “These awards really show that our massive efforts are paying off and that the public, the press and the industry are recognizing the very strong qualities of the game.”
The title, which is still in production, has won several awards already this year.
A beta version of the game is available online at the Web link with this report.
