Hugo Stephenson, an executive with Quintiles since 2003, is the new president of the contract research organization’s iGuard product offering.
iGuard is an online service that provides people who register with personalized safety information and alerts about prescription drugs they are taking.
"iGuard will serve as a conduit for communication about drug safety," Stephenson said in a statement. "I believe that iGuard will contribute to improving our systems for gathering and disseminating information about drugs consumers are taking daily."
Stephenson, a physician, joined Quintiles when it acquired Health Research Solutions in Australia in 2002. Stephenson founded that company. His previous position at Quintiles was as senior vice president of strategic research and safety services.
"We’re capitalizing on Hugo’s expertise in the area of risk management and the demand for consumer involvement in monitoring the safety of drugs that are on the market," said Stephen DeCherney, Quintiles’ chief innovation officer.
