Richard Moore, the North Carolina state treasurer, and entrepreneur Guy Kawasaki headline the “Carolina Connect 2007” event set for October 11.

The fifth annual venture capital conference is put on by the Blue Ridge Entrepreneurial Council and the AdvantageWest economic development group.

The conference will take place at the Grove Park Inn Resort & Spa.

Moore and Kawasaki are the keynote speakers. Kawasaki is managing director of Garage Technology Ventures, an early stage venture firm. He also is a columnist for Entrepreneur Magazine and is the author of eight books, including “The Art of the Start.”

“We are delighted to have two such dynamic speakers at this powerful event fostering business growth in Western North Carolina,” said Dale Carroll, AdvantageWest CEO. “Mr. Kawasaki’s vision and passion for innovation and growth is a great fit with the energy and enthusiasm of our business climate in Western North Carolina, and North Carolina Treasurer Richard Moore provides great insight into capital markets, the economy and the financial foundation for business in our state. We are truly excited about what this conference brings to the business community in Western North Carolina."

Connect 2007 will also feature three tracks: Connect to Basics, which is “boot camp” for beginners; Connect to the Market, which is about product development and innovation; and Connect to Capital, which focuses on financing sources.
