Lenovo is adding Novell’s SUSE Linux operating system to the software suite offered on its ThinkPad laptop computers.
Lenovo and Novell, which is the primary Linux competitor for Red Hat, announced the teal at LinuxWorld in San Francisco. Financial details were not disclosed.
The deal includes the SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 10 system. It will be preloaded on ThinkPad T series machines.
Lenovo, which is based in Morrisville and is the world’s third largest PC manufacturer, also will offer direct support for SUSE in addition to hardware support. Novell will issue software updates directly to ThinkPad customers.
