GE-Hitachi Nuclear Energy has signed what it calls a “project development agreement” with Entergy Nuclear for nuclear reactor components.
Entergy is making plans to submit construction and operating license application for nuclear plants in Mississippi and Louisiana. No final plans have been made to proceed, however, Entergy and GE-Hitachi said.
The agreement is designed to ensure components are available if the plants are approved.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
The order includes “large forgings” and fabrication of “schedule-critical” nuclear and turbine components, the companies said.
GE-Hitachi is based in Wilmington.
