Steve Parrott, the state executive for the Carolinas at Embarq, is taking on responsibilities for Virginia as well.
Parrott takes on the duties from Tom Sokol, who has retired.
In his expanded role, Parrott will be responsible for regulatory, legislative and public affairs in those three states.
A longtime veteran at Embarq and its predecessor Sprint, Parrott has led the Carolinas since November of 2000. He remained in that role when Sprint spun off its local telephone operations as a separate company a year ago. Parrott joined Sprint in 1977.
Parrott is a former chairman of the North Carolina Technology Association.
