Internap, a provider of advanced Internet services and solutions, has completed construction of its network access facility in London.

The point of presence, or PoP, is part of Internap’s expansion efforts to upgrade network service and applications, such as its content delivery network. Two other facilities will be built this year.

Internap (NASDAQ: INAP) technology routes traffic across what it describes as the “best path” in order to improve end-to-end performance.

The London location is its nine contend delivery network locations. The others are located in Los Angeles, Seattle, Atlanta, Silicon Valley, Chicago, Washington, D.C. and Amsterdam. In all, Internap operates 43 network facilities around the world.

“This expansion is part of Internap’s plan to accelerate growth and scale the business, while improving our ability to manage, deliver, distribute and monetize customer’s Web assets,” said James DeBlasio, president and chief executive officer of Internap.

“We are expanding our facilities and services to meet the enterprise needs created by an emerging wave of rich media-based communications,” he added.

Content delivery points are designed to improve deliver of rich media applications such as software, video and audio streams.
