Peter Nixon, the chief operating officer at FairPoint Communications, is the new president of the firm.
FairPoint, a provider of local telecommunications services in a growing number of markets around the United States, announced the promotion Friday.
"Throughout Peter’s tenure at FairPoint, he has risen through the ranks and mastered every challenge associated with his increasing responsibilities,” said FairPoint Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Gene Johnson. “His service to our Company has been immeasurable and he has been instrumental in our success, including his oversight of our pending merger with Verizon’s wireline operations in New England.”
FairPoint announced the Verizon acquisition earlier this year.
Nixon has worked at FairPoint since 1999. he was named COO in 2002.
