Michael O’Neill, a former executive with Honeywell, is the new general counsel at PC manufacturer Lenovo.

O’Neill replaces Jim Shaughnessy, who earlier this month was named general counsel at Orbitz Worldwide. Shaughnessy had been Lenovo’s top lawyer for less than two years.

O’Neill comes to Lenovo from private practice, having worked for the law firm Howrey LLP as general counsel for international practices. He helped open Howrey’s office in Belgium in 2001.

Before joining Howrey, O’Neill worked at Honeywell for 16 years.

“Mike comes to us with a proven track record and a solid background of international legal experience," said William Amelio, Lenovo’s top executive. "I look forward to working with Mike and am pleased to be adding Mike to our global leadership team."

O’Neill received his law degree at the University of Baltimore. He has an MBA from the same university and a Masters in government contracting from George Washington University.
