Mike Zafirovski, chief executive officer at Nortel, has been nominated by President Bush to serve of the U.S. National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee.
The NSTAC acts as advisors to the president on policy and technical issues in telecommunications, information systems, infrastructure protection and national security as well as emergency preparedness concerns.
"I am very proud of this honor, and look forward to contributing to this important committee and serving the President during what will be a critical new era for technology and communications," said Zafirovski in a statement.
"The rate of technology innovation promises to surpass that of any other time in recent history,” he added. “We are entering a hyperconnected era that will not only transform the way people interact, but enable work, education and social interaction across all corners of the planet."
