Battery Ventures, one of the nation’s largest venture capital firms with a growing portfolio of investments in the southeast, has closed on a new $750 million fund.
Battery has raised eight funds and has $2.9 billion under management.
“This is the right size fund for our investment strategy and organizational structure,” said Battery General Partner Tom Crotty. “We’re pleased to have three new GPs and the ongoing commitment of many of our long-standing LPs. $750 million gives us the flexibility to keep doing smaller, earlier stage deals but to also write larger checks for growth equity and buyout deals.
Battery investments recently pulled off five initial public offerings, including Atlanta-based Cbeyond. Cbeyond provides business communications services.
Another of its Atlanta investments, CipherTrust, was acquired by Secure Computing.
Triangle-based BrightView Technologies and Atlanta-based PrimeRevenue also are Battery investments.
