Andrew Hu, who has more than 20 years of experience in information technology, is the new president of Red Hat operations in China.

Hu has worked in IT in both North America and Asia. He is a former director of operations for Network Appliance in China. His most recent position was president of Asia Pacific for Wyse, a thin client software developer.

Hu will report to Gery Messer, president of Red Hat’s Asia-Pacific Operations.

"Asia Pacific is a key market for Red Hat and we are committed to investing in resources to continue growing our presence in this region," Messer said in a statement. "With his strong management background, Andrew Hu’s appointment to the team will ensure Red Hat is well-placed to take advantage of the rapidly expanding market prospects that exist for open source."

Hu received a Master’s degree in business from Carnegie Mellon University and his undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnic University.
