Novo Nordisk will dedicate its expanded manufacturing facility for insulin on Friday.

The $100 million project has created more than 50 new jobs to date, and the company now employs more than 400 in Clayton.

The expansion is the second in three years. According to Novo Nordisk, the facility is the only one for insulin manufacturing in the U.S.

"Novo Nordisk is proud to both open the door to exciting job opportunities in Johnston County, with its wealth of intellectual talent and skilled labor, and to expand access to safe and effective insulin products made in the United States," said Lars Nobert, who is vice president of the facility.

"With this new commitment of resources in the United States, Novo Nordisk is fulfilling its pledge to change diabetes by helping to improve the lives of the millions of Americans living with the disease,” he added.
