MetaMetrics, a developer of software for measuring reading and math comprehension as well as difficulty of reading and math problems, is expanding its reach of researchers.
Margaret Jorgensen, a former executive at Harcourt Assessment, will lead development of new technologies at MetaMetrics. At Harcourt, Jorgensen was senior vice president for product research and innovation.
MetaMetrics created the Lexile Framework for reading, which determines the difficulty of text and assigns readers scores based on comprehension problems geared to appropriate reading levels. Its Quintiles program is used for math.
Jorgensen and several members of the MetaMetrics team are psychometricians, which is a branch of psychology dealing with the design, administration and interpretation of quantitative tests for the measurement intelligence, aptitude and personality traits.
