Leap Wireless planned to launch service in the Charleston market Tuesday as the company continues to expand its nationwide market.

Leap offers its service under the Cricket brand name.

The service is already available in Charlotte and the Triad in North Carolina and will be launched in the Triangle in the near future.

Leap is based in San Diego, Calif.

“As we continue to expand our national footprint into markets like Charleston, we are introducing customers to a competitively priced wireless alternative designed to meet their communications needs,” said Doug Hutcheson, president and chief executive officer for Leap. “With the launch of our Charleston market, Cricket is bringing the local community a simple, affordable, flat-rate wireless solution offering unlimited anytime minutes on a high-quality, all-digital network.”
