Lulu.com on Thursday agreed to a partnership with Universal Press Syndicate to launch an online storefront to produce and distribute content from the world’s largest independent newspaper syndicate to fans of their authors and creators.

With Lulu’s platform to create, buy, sell and control digital content on demand, Universal Press will be able to reach its audience directly and provide a broader range of titles, company officials said.

"Working with Universal Press Syndicate is so cool," Bob Young, founder and chief executive of Lulu, said in a statement. "Giving Lulu users access to the many comic strip characters UPS manages empowers our users to create amazing books and calendars for their own use and to sell globally through Lulu."

Some of the initial comic strip offerings include Clear Blue Water by Karen Montague-Reyes, The Fusco Brothers by J.C. Duffy and Real Life Adventures by Lance Aldrich and Gary Wise. Additional titles and collections will be announced during the course of the
partnership, officials said.

"We are committed to delivering quality content to consumers. The partnership with Lulu.com provides an opportunity to take advantage of the developing technology of print-on-demand. The combination of our companies brings two leaders of their industries together providing superior content for print-on-demand products," said Sarah DeCourcey of Universal Press Syndicate.
