PureSpectrum, a provider of technology to improve lighting, has filed for a patent to cover technology for improvements in switching.

PureSpectrum, which has a development lad in North Carolina, wants protection for circuitry switching that the company said “reduces energy losses and eliminates voltage fluctuations during the transfer of power to the lamp, resulting in substantial gains in overall efficiency and performance.”

The technology is already used in light bulbs of certain sizes made by Phillips, Sylvania and GE.

PureSpectrum already holds numerous other patens.
