INC Research is buying a Pennsylvania-based clinical research organization, and the chief executive officer of that company will become INC’s chief scientific officer.

INC, also a CRO, said Wednesday that it has bought Advanced Biologics, which is based in new Hope, Pa.

Details of the transaction were not disclosed.

As part of the deal, Michael Corrado of Advanced Biologics will become INC’s CSO. The New Hope facility will also continue to operate as part of INC.

“We have already worked closely to ensure the integration of our teams, processes and technology is seamless for our clients,” Corrado said in a statement. “With our combined resources, we are well positioned to become an even stronger global force in the discovery and evaluation of new treatments for infectious diseases.”

The deal will enable INC to expand its infectious drug research efforts.

"Advanced Biologics has built a world-class team of therapeutic experts that are focused on the needs of its clients," INC CEO James Ogle said in a statement cited by Phillyburbs.com. "By joining forces, our clients will greatly benefit from our expanded infectious disease capabilities."

Advanced Biologics has also performed studies for drugs under development for cancer, neurological diseases, urologic conditions and women’s health.

The deal is part of continued expansion efforts by INC, which recently opened an office in Zurich, Switzerland, and launched operations in India.
